PRAYER FOCUS:  Following the WORD OF GOD

“Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.”
Deuteronomy 11:18

********

“Thy Word I have treasured in my heart, that I might not sin against thee.”
Psalm 119:11

********

“Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me.  He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.”
John 14:21

********

“All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
2 Timothy 3:16,17

********

“And we also thank God continually because, when you received the Word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it actually is, the Word of God, which is at work in you who believe.”
1 Thessalonians 2:13

********

God, we thank You  for the Bible, Your inspired Word, the living Truth, our life Guide,  that You gave to us.  When we take time to read Your Word, we learn of the faith that so many people had as they walked their life – Abraham, Noah, Job, Moses, Rahab, Mary, and many others. Thank You for the examples of their faith walk with You using imperfect people to accomplish Your purposes.  God, help us to have that kind of faith and help us to keep reading and learning Your Word – to hide it in our hearts so that we won’t sin against You. Please continue to teach us how to live Your Word.   We’re overwhelmed by Your love for us – Your love for the whole world!  Thank You, Jesus!

PRAYER FOCUS:  The WORD of God

“Your Word is a lamp to my feet
and a light for my path.”
Psalm 119:105

********

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
John 1:1

********

“Do not merely listen to the Word, and so deceive yourselves.  Do what is says.  Anyone who listens to the Word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.  But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it — he will be blessed in what he does.”
James 1:22-25

*********

God, thank You for Jesus, the “visible expression of Your thoughts.”  Thank You, God, that Jesus is the Word of Truth and Your Word alone is all we ever need. Help us to recognize  You, Jesus, to see You when so many times, like the Samaritan woman, we are looking at the outward appearance expecting someone different or we are so distracted with everyday life that we miss You being where we are.  Help us to be obedient to Your Word and not just give lip service; to walk the walk as well as we talk the talk.  Jesus, You are the perfect example of obedience.  Thank you, God, for sending Your one and only Son.  Thank You, Jesus, that You are always with us and will never leave us.

God, thank You that You sent Your Son from heaven, at the perfect time that You had decided, to save us from our sins – to live among us, to teach us Your ways, to love imperfect people with Your perfect way of loving, unconditionally.  LORD, we all probably have someone in our lives that we should love without any expectations but with hope through out our very being.  Thank You, Jesus, for your continued example of that perfect love.  We especially thank You for loving us so much that You came and dwelt with us.

PRAYER FOCUS:  Thankfulness

“Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD: let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and song.

For the LORD is the great God, the great King above all gods.
In His hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to Him.

The sea is His, for He made it, and His hands formed the dry land.
Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker,
for He is our God and we are the people of His pasture, the flock under His care.”
Psalm 95:1-7

~~~~~~~
Read Psalm 136
~~~~~~~~

“But thanks be to God!  He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
1 Corinthians 15:57

~~~~~~~~
“Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!”
2 Corinthians 9:15
~~~~~~~~

“Therefore, since we are receiving  a kingdom that cannot be shaken,
let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.”
Hebrews 12:28

God, we come before You with such thankful hearts, overhwhelmed by Your great love for us.  You have showered so many blessings on us, some that we may think are trival and small and not that important.  But You are a God of small details.  When we consider how You put us together in our mother’s womb, You were all about details.  We praise You, LORD, for helping us to see how big the small things are.  Help us not to take anything for granted and to continue to see You as a child sees You - to never allow the things that You show us each day to become old – the beauty of a sunrise, watching a squirrel prepare for winter hiding nuts in comical places, listening to a flock of geese as they migrate south, manuevering around in the blue sky as another takes the lead, the beautiful red sunsets, the numerous stars in the sky on a brisk evening walk.

God, thank You for Jesus – His birth, His death on the cross for our sins, His resurrection from the dead that those who accept Him as Lord and Savior will have eternal life.  Thank You for the sacrifice that You and Jesus made for each one of us.  We are so grateful.  We love You, Lord Jesus.

Prayer Focus:  Thankfulness

“Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
Worship the LORD with gladness;
come before Him with joyful songs.
Know that the LORD is God.
It is He who made us, and we are His;
we are His people, the sheep of His pasture.
Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise;
give thanks to Him and praise His name.
For the LORD is good and His love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.”
Psalm 100

~~~~~~~~
Lord, just thanking You seems so insignificant when we think about and realize everything that You do on a daily basis for each one of us.  You breathe life into our lungs.  You provide food and water, clothes for each season, cars in which we travel.  You provide many different kinds of items that we use for communication and entertainment.  You provide home that are heated in the winter and cooled in the summer.  You’ve given us eyes and ears to see and hear the magnificient beauty of your creation.  Thank You, God, for Your faithfulness to us.  You told us in Your word that You would never leave us or forsake us.  Praise Your Holy name!  Forgive us, God, when we are not so faithful and easily set sidetracked.  Help us to always put your first in everything that we do.  We love You and want to worship You.
Prayer Focus:  Depending on God for wisdom, strength and courage
Who is wise and understanding among you?  Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.   But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth.  Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil.  For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and very evil pracitice.
But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.  Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.”
James 3:13-18
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time.  Cast all your cares on Him for He cares for you.  Be self-controlled and alert.  Your enemy the  devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.  Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.”
1 Peter 5:6-9
~~~~~~~~~

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow His principles have good understanding.
To Him belongs eternal praise.”
Psalm 111:10

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.
  In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.”
Proverbs 3:5,6

“Be strong and courageous.  Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you;
He will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Deuteronomy 31:6

It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect.”
11 Samuel 22:33

God, thank You that You have told us that You will never leave nor forsake us.  Thank You for that promise and the truth of Your Word.  Praise You, God,  for the strength You give when we seek You.  You’ve told us to make wise choices, with You walking beside us, guiding us. You’ve told us to be strong in the LORD, that we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength.  You’ve also told us to be courageous, do the work.  And You are there every step of the way. God, help us to always give you the praise – it is ONLY because of You that we can have wisdom, strength, and courage. Please, keep us humble.   We praise Your Holy Name.

PRAYER FOCUS:  God is our refuge and strength

When you are feeling overwhelmed…

My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.”
2 Corinthians 12:9

“The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped.”
Psalm 29:7

“The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.
Those who know Your name will trust in You, for You, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek You.”
Psalm 9:9,10

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Isaiah 41:10

“I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”
Philippians 4:13

~~~~~~~~
God, we praise You for being our refuge and strength, our very present help in time of trials or challenges; our Comforter in time of sorrow; our Encourager when we are sad or happy.  LORD, you tell us to seek You and You will be there – that You NEVER leave us.  Thank you, Jesus, that Your Word is truth and that Your promises ALWAYS  happen as You have said they would.  There is so much confidence and comfort in knowing that.  Thank You, God, that You gave us Your Word by which to live and have hope, joy, and peace.  We praise Your Holy Name, Jesus!!
PRAYER FOCUS:  God is our refuge and strength.
“The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.
He will drive out your enemy before you, saying “Destroy him!”….
He is your shield and helper and  your glorious sword.
Your enemies will cower before you, and you will trample down their high places.”
Deuteronomy 33:27, 29b
~~~~~~~~

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells.
God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.
Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; He lifts His voice, the earth melts.

The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.”
Psalm 46:1-7

~~~~~~~~
“As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless.
He is a shield for all who take refuge in Him.”
2 Samuel 22:31
~~~~~~~~

Thank you, God, that You are our refuge and strength and that You are always with us, our very present help in any situation in which we find ourselves.   Thank You that it is in the strength that You give us, not our own strength, that we can do all things through Christ.

PRAYER FOCUS:  God’s Ways

“Teach me Your way, O LORD,
and I will walk in Your truth;
give me an undivided heart,
that I may fear Your name.”
Psalm 86:11

~~~~~~~~
“All the ways of the LORD are loving and faithful
for those who keep the demands of the covenant.”
Psalm 25:10
~~~~~~~~

“This is what the LORD says–
your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel:
‘I am the LORD your God,
who teaches you what is best for you,
who directs you in the way you should go.’ ”
Isaiah 48:17

~~~~~~~~
Lord, we praise You for the way You love us. Because of Your great love for us,  You want to guide and direct our steps even when we think we know what is best.  God, Your ways are so much better than ours – help us to trust You more and to understand that You only want what is best for us.  Why would You have allowed Your one and only Son to die in our place to then not want the absolute best for each of us.
Help us to understand that the challenges and situations that you  allow in our lives are helping to refine us and in no way to harm us.  Most of the time we want what is easy because we feel that what we are doing is so valuable that we don’t have room for interruptions.  But does that draw us  closer to You? That is when You usually place a detour in our lives to get our attention to help us see that You have other plans for us.   Praise You, Lord, that Your ways are not ours!
“He is the Rock, His works are perfect,
and all His ways are just.
A faithful God who does no wrong,
upright and just is He.”
Deuteronomy 32:4
